Trail Blazers Sign Sidy Cissoko to Two-Way Contract; Waive Taze Moore
The Portland Trail Blazers announced that they have signed forward Sidy Cissoko to a two-way contract as they continue to make adjustments to their roster. In a corresponding move, the team waived guard Taze Moore, who was also on a two-way contract. This decision comes in the wake of recent trades involving Cissoko, who was a second-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Sidy Cissoko, a 20-year-old small forward, was previously with the San Antonio Spurs, where he appeared in 29 games over two seasons, averaging 2.3 points and 1.1 rebounds while playing approximately 6.7 minutes per game. During his stint, he demonstrated shooting capabilities with a field goal percentage of 49%, but struggled from beyond the arc, hitting only 21.1% of his three-point attempts.
Before joining the Trail Blazers, Cissoko was involved in a series of trades, first moving to the Sacramento Kings as part of a larger deal involving De'Aaron Fox and then being traded to the Washington Wizards, who subsequently waived him. In the G League, Cissoko has shown more promise, averaging 14.6 points per game over 31 appearances, showcasing his potential for the Blazers moving forward.
Meanwhile, Taze Moore, who signed a two-way contract with Portland in September 2023, has been released after averaging 12.6 points per game in nine G League contests with the Rip City Remix. Moore started nine games for the Remix and was a solid contributor, but the Trail Blazers are looking to reshape their roster as they pursue their season objectives.
