Atlanta Hawks Waive Bones Hyland After Roster Moves
The Atlanta Hawks have announced that they have waived guard Bones Hyland as part of their roster management following a busy trade deadline. This move comes after the Hawks acquired several new players, including Caris LeVert and Terance Mann, in trades involving significant contributors Bogdan Bogdanovic and De’Andre Hunter. Hyland, who was recently acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers, played in only a limited number of games since joining the Hawks, leading to this decision.
Hyland was initially selected 26th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets and had spent time with the Clippers before moving to Atlanta. In 20 games with the Clippers prior to the trade, he averaged 7.2 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 11.1 minutes per game. Following the trade with Los Angeles, which sent Bogdanovic to the Clippers, the Hawks needed to make adjustments to accommodate their new roster entries.
Recent Roster Changes
- The Hawks traded De’Andre Hunter to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Caris LeVert, Georges Niang, and three second-round picks.
- Bogdan Bogdanovic was sent to the Clippers alongside Hyland and a collection of second-round picks.
- To comply with the NBA’s roster limit, the Hawks waived David Roddy.
With Hyland’s departure, the Hawks have solidified their roster by emphasizing shooting and versatility with their new acquisitions. This shift aims to enhance their performance during the remainder of the season as they continue to adapt to their new lineup.
As this roster change unfolds, it is noted that Bones Hyland is eligible to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
